Achievements

As Diocesan Director, she is responsible to Bishop Cunningham and serves the parishes and other agencies of the diocese with regard to policies and programs related to catechetical ministry.  She is responsible for implementing the vision of catechesis found in the General Directory of Catechesis and the National Directory of Catechesis, that faith formation is lifelong and ongoing.  

 

Fr. Hung Viet Nguyen, ICM, '83 and Fr. Hoai Dinh, '10, Diocese of Dalat, Vietnam. Fr. Nguyen, a member of the Incarnatio, Consecratio, Missio Order, visited LIM recently. He lives in Baton Rouge, LA. and is Chairman of the Vietnamese Catechetical Commission in America.

Don Thompson, MPS '90 has been since 2000 Executive Director of the Harry Tompson Center , an award-winning center for the homeless located at St. Joseph Church near downtown New Orleans. He is responsible for overseeing services for 250-275 homeless guests each day, the recruitment and supervision of staff, liaison responsibilities with neighboring businesses and the coordination of donations and fundraising for the Center. The Mission of the Center is:

Warren is the Associate Dean for European and Latin American Languages at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. He was deployed to Baghdad on 29 February 2004. While serving our country in Iraq, Warren kept in contact with his learning group and kept up with his studies. He is now in the process of officially earning credit for the extension courses his group completed during his tour of duty.

Jim Sciegel has been named the U.S. Army’s Director of Religious Education in Heidelberg, Germany. He works in the office of the Chief Chaplin of the Army in Europe.
 

Linda Lucarell Miller, M.R.E. '95, from Youngstown, Ohio, is Ursuline High School teacher of religious education, Liturgy Coordinator and director of El Fuego, the Liturgical Choir. She is also Lay Leader of Prayer for Diocese of Youngstown. Linda traveled to Israel last school year to set up a Triwizard program with Jewish and Arab Palestinian students at Ursuline High School. The "trialogue" included periodic live video conferences with Israel. She is currently enrolled in Doctor of Ministry program at St. Mary's Seminary in Cleveland, OH.

Lynn Zupan co-presented a workshop, with the Most. Rev. Gerald Barnes (Diocese of San Bernardino CA), at the 2005 Los Angeles Religious Education Congress. The workshop was titled “When There Are More Parishes than Priests.”

Linda Wainright enters the St. Scholastica Benedictine Community in Duluth, MN. On February 10, 2010, Linda Wainright, a 2009 LIM graduate with a Master of Pastoral Studies degreee, entered the St. Scholastica Benedictine Community in Duluth, MN. as a postulant.

Little did I imagine that what looked like the end of a journey—earning an MPS through LIMEX—would actually turn out to be only the beginning of a still different, new journey. I already had a master’s degree in another discipline and wasn’t sure why I was undertaking yet another course of study.

Steve Doody, MPS ’09, of Baton Rouge offers some reflections on what he, as a full-time lawyer, is doing with his Master of Pastoral Studies degree from the Loyola Institute for Ministry.
