Follow the Call
The Church considers the call of all the baptized to ministry “a cause for rejoicing.“ At the Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM), we agree.
Our programs are affordable and take seriously the hopes and experience you bring to your studies. We promote a broad vision of ministry, which holds that it is practiced in explicitly ecclesial contexts--in churches, schools and dioceses--and beyond wherever people of faith live and work.
We teach a method called “practical theology.” Built on the best in biblical and theological scholarship, it seeks to discern implications for the individual, Church and world. It fosters personal, spiritual, and professional growth while you’re here--and after you graduate.
Our History
Begun in 1968 as part of Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, the Institute moved to Loyola in 1978 and began to offer its programs around the country and around the world through its extension (LIMEX) model in 1983. LIM began to offer online courses in 2000 and its degree fully online in 2010.
Throughout its history, LIM has continued to read and respond to the signs of the times by developing programs that enable our students to be leaders in responding to the pressing needs of our world today. Read the welcome from the Director and more about the Institute's history.
