Intern, Catholic Campaign for Human Development, New Orleans, LA

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is seeking an intern for the 2023-24 academic year. Generally, the intern is an older college student, but may be a vowed religious person or seminarian as well. The candidate must be a Catholic in good standing, have reliable transportation, and willing to travel to some meetings in the evening or weekends. The intern will work 8-10 hours for a wage of $15/hr. The candidate must be willing to attend orientation in Washington, DC May 30-June 2, 2023 with cost covered by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) Intern collaborates with local funded groups to help them achieve their goals and reports progress to the Director of the Office of Justice and Peace. The intern is to help both the Office of Justice and Peace and CCHD grant recipients build capacity by liaising among the various organizations. The intern will help promote the work of the Office of Justice and Peace and will assist in planning and preparing for the Social Action Summer Institute sponsored by the Catholic Roundtable.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support the work or CCHD grant recipients as needed

  • Liaise between Catholic Climate Covenant and Together New Orleans

  • Attend Eviction Court in Orleans and/or Jefferson Parish to learn about eviction proceedings and report possible abuses to our collaborative organizations

  • Help plan and promote the SASI 2024 Conference

  • Liaise with the Archdiocesan Commission for Persons with Disabilities

  • Must be able attend Orientation May 30-June 2, 2023

  • Study Catholic Social Teaching

  • Coordinate with local community partners to meet client needs

  • All other duties as assigned

Graduate Assistant, Loyola Institute for Ministry, New Orleans, LA

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the project “Flourishing Sisterhood: Nourishing Communities in the Gulf South” works as a team member within The Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM).  Specifically, the GA works in collaboration with the Project Director and Associate Project Director of “Flourishing Sisterhood,” which is funded by the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to support the well-being and leadership of Catholic sisters in the Gulf South region. This is a two-year, part time (20 hours per week) position beginning in early to mid 2023. While working, the GA will receive a scholarship covering tuition and fees for one of LIM's 36-credit graduate degrees (Master of Pastoral Studies or Master of Religious Education). Bachelor’s Degree required.  Applicant must be a vowed religious sister in a Roman Catholic congregation with knowledge of and/or relationships with congregations of Catholic sisters in New Orleans and the Gulf South region.

The Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM) of Loyola University New Orleans invites applications for the Joe and Kelly George Professorship in Theology and Ministry at the assistant professor level.
