Sister Clare earned her B.S. in mathematics from Loyola University New Orleans, and she also earned her master’s degree from the university in religious education in 1998. Sr. Clare has a long and distinguished career as both an administrator and educator. She is a member of the Sisters of the Holy Family, the Roman Catholic religious order that founded and administers St. Mary's Academy. In addition, she has served her community as assistant congregational leader. Her mathematical teaching career has spanned from Compton, CA., to Belize, Central America. And her administrative experience is equally impressive—from Houston, TX, to Opelousas, LA. Sr. Clare began her teaching career at St. Mary’s Academy in 1992. She later served as assistant principal and was campus minister until 2005 when Katrina hit New Orleans. "I feel empowered by the spirit to revitalize our purpose and the purpose for which the Sisters of the Holy Family were founded. That purpose is to bring compassion, liberation, healing and empowerment to our students, faculty, parents and the broader community with our very presence," said Sr. Clare.
