SCC Criteria

Students who seek a scholarship to participate in the Eastern Africa SCC Leadership Project must:

  • Be a current, active participant in an SCC. 
  • Play a leadership role in an SCC or have the capacity to play such a role (religious need to play a leadership role or have the capacity to do so as part of an SCC that includes laypeople);
  • Be able to use the course in the service of the SCC they belong to and of others in their diocese;
  • Have a bachelor’s or first university degree;
  • Be able to read, write, and do research in English at the university level;
  • Have approximately 6-9 hours a week to participate in the course;
  • Have adequate access to an appropriate computer;
  • Have adequate access to internet service;
  • Be invited by a diocesan leader to complete a preliminary application survey by September 15, 2021 and, if invited, completed final Loyola application by November 1. 

Upon completing course requirements, students in the Eastern Africa SCC Leadership Project must follow up by:

  • Implementing what they have learned in the service of their own SCC;
  • Developing a workshop to share what they have learned and delivering that workshop to another SCC or a group of SCCs in their parish or diocese.
