LIM graduate Tony Melito appeared recently in an article and photos in the local New Orleans Advocate newspaper because of his work as the defensive spotter for the Superdome's announcing crew at New Orleans Saints football games. Tony received an MRE from the Loyola Institute for Ministry and now teaches Religion at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans.
Recently, Religious Education, the official publication of the Religious Education Association, published faculty member Tracey Lamont’s article, “Catholic Schools as Spaces for Transformative Encounter.” It explores how Catholic secondary school curriculums on “Ecumenical and Interreligious Issues” can unfold through intentional pedagogical methods that help religious educators teach about religious pluralism in a way that nurtures the developmental needs of adolescents, deepens their religious and moral identity, and develops habits of mind committed to the common good.
Alumna Lorraine Hess (MPS 2018) presented a workshop titled “Eucharistic Adoration: A Communal Invitation to Mission” with Fr. Rick Hilgartner at the 2018 convention of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians. A podcast of the presentation is now available. In it, Lorraine and Fr. Rick offer suggestions regarding how worshiping communities might enhance their members’ experience of Adoration.
Born and raised in Kisii, Kenya, Alloys Nyakundi came to study at the Loyola Institute for Ministry at Loyola University New Orleans because of his passion for leading and promoting Young People Small Christian Communities, or YPSCCs, in the nine countries of Eastern Africa where he was working with AMECEA Pastoral Department. During his undergraduate studies at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Alloys gained valuable insight into the needs of Eastern African youth and how they can be met through YPSCCs.
Dr. Tom Ryan is a featured guest columnist in The Clarion Herald, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of New Orleans. In "A Catholic Response to Disturbing Climate Report," Dr. Ryan considers the findings detailed by the United Nations's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and how Catholics can respond to the challenges we face.

Rev. Ayo Efodigbue, MSP, PhD, has just published a book Charisms for Ministry: An Exploration of How the Manifest Charisms in the Early Church Can Be Recovered and Restored for Ministry in the Catholic Church Today (Xulon Press, 2018). Father Ayo is a LIM alumnus (MPS '12); during his studies at LIM, he developed his focus on charism in his coursework.
Tricia Vowels, MPS '15 of the Diocese of Lubbock, recently presented a workshop at the National Diaconate Congress in New Orleans entitled "Discernment, Synergy, and Community: Supporting the Ministry of the Deacon’s Wife," a topic she developed in the final course of her Loyola studies.
LIM Assistant Professor of Religious Education Dr. Tracey Lamont was recently interviewed by Beth Donze of the Clarion Herald, the newspaper of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, for an article entitled "Parishes' Young Adult Ministries Must be Focused to be Effective."
LIM graduate Doug Triche has accepted the position of President/Principal at Pope John Paul II High School in Slidell, LA and will start on July 1. Doug graduated with a Master of Religious Education and is well known nationally for his work in "religious education across curriculum."
Marion Danforth, Ed.D., has just published her memoir, Rebirthing Faith: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and Resurrection (CreateSpace Independent Publishing, 2018), available at Amazon. Marion is a LIM alumna (MRE '93) and adjunct faculty member, active in both LIM's online and extension programs, where she has shared her expertise and wisdom with students in introductory, Religious Education, and praxis courses.
