Fr. Jerry Fagin and Dr. Marion Danforth made a presentation on “Integrating Spiritual Formation in to the Ministry education Process at the 35th annual conference of the National Association for Lay Ministry (NALM) on 1 June 2011 in Indianapolis, Indiana. While many educational programs for ministry add a spiritual formation process as a separate component, apart from the educational process, the Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM) offers an integrative model that weaves a process of Ignatian spiritual formation following the rhythms of the Spiritual Exercises into the educational process itself. Jerry and Marion explained the LIM model in their presentation, highlighting its focus on intentionality and accountability and exploring how the model may be adapted for a variety of ministry education programs in parish or diocesan settings.
