Fr. Mark Mossa, S.J., to Profess Final Vows

Fr. Mark Mossa, S.J., of the Religious Studies department, will profess his solemn final vows in the Society of Jesus during a public Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 30 at Holy Name of Jesus Church. All are welcome to attend. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be livestreamed on the parish website at hnjchurch.org.

Fr. Mossa currently serves as the Program Director of the Canizaro Center for Catholic Studies at Loyola University New Orleans and as a Visiting Assistant Professor. His contributions to the university community extend to the Loyola Institute for Ministry, where he has served as a facilitator in the LIM Extension Program and celebrated Masses for various events, including the Summer Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership and Vigil Masses for graduates.

Jesuit formation follows a structured path spanning approximately 16 years:

  • A 2-year novitiate culminating in vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience

  • 3 years of academic studies alongside ministry

  • 3 years of regency, teaching at educational institutions

  • 3 years of theological studies followed by ordination

  • Roughly 5 years of priesthood before Tertianship, which includes a 30-day retreat and leads to final vows

The LIM community congratulates Fr. Mossa on reaching this significant milestone in his Jesuit vocation.
