Interim LIM Director Tracey Lamont, Ph.D., received the University Senate Excellence Award in Service at the Spring 2023 President's Convocation for Faculty & Staff held on January 20. Isabel Medina, J.D., presented the award. In her remarks, she noted that the University Senate Award is selected by faculty alone who chose to recognize Dr. Lamont's work at the national, regional, and local levels.
Examples of Dr. Lamont's service that impressed her colleagues include serving as a member of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops National Young Adult Advisory Team and as a member of the board of directors for the National Institute for Ministry with Young Adults. Additionally, Dr. Lamont served as the treasurer of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) Conference for Pastoral, Theological and Ministerial Education. Her work the national level and serivce to ministry with young adults caught the attention of the Lilly Endowment, Inc., who invited Tracey to apply for a grant in support of their Young Adult Initiative which Loyola recieved in March of 2022. In 2022, she held listening sessions at Loyola and Xavier Universities in service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the Vatican Synod For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission Implementation.
