Alumna Accepts Calls To Become Lay Missionary

Since January 2022, Louise Locke, MPS, has been serving in Bolivia as a Maryknoll Lay Missioner. She completed her training and in a Sending Ceremony in Dec. 2021 was sent into mission. Louise most recently worked as a pastoral associate for a parish serving a large retirement community and faced a tough discernment related to her call to be a lay missionary. In the end, she said, “I very much feel that God is inviting me into this experience. … I trust that God will use my offering to whatever end suits God’s purpose.” Read her essay, "Lenten Lessons in Vulnerability" GO»

Louise has served senior communities as a chaplain and spiritual care provider, ans is pleased that the Maryknoll Lay Missioner’s matched her skill set to the specific needs of the location where she will be serving. “Now,” she says, “I am happy to meet the abuelas (grandmothers) in Bolivia!”
