Kenneth Tarleton ’95 received the Recognition Award for Outstanding Clinical Research Nurse at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Before arriving at M.D. Anderson, he spent eight years as a travel nurse working in operation rooms across the U.S. Kenneth works in the Department of Palliative Care and Rehabilitation Medicine at M.D. Anderson.

Counseling students Alison Phillips and Christine Bagala presented at the Illinois Counseling Association annual convention held in Chicago under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Foster. Their presentation entitled, "Using Existential Group Counseling With Adolescents Exhibiting Pre-Borderline Symptomology" was well-received, with many audience members giving positive feedback. Lisa Chew presented at the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision National Conference in Nashville, TN, held October 26-30, 2011. Her presentation entitled, "Tarasoff Thirty-Five Years Later: A Fifty State Examination of the Statutes and Legal Interpretations that Define the 'Duty to Warn' for Mental Health Professionals," focused on providing an overview of the variations among the state laws regarding this important exception to confidentiality. Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Honors Society initiated three new students on Thursday, October 20th: Brandy Craig, Megan Kern, and Ruthie O'Ryan. The students were selected for their superior academic performance and commitment to the counseling profession.
