Achievements

Stephanie R. Robinson MS, LPC, NCC is the new Admissions and Clinical Coordinator for the Department of Counseling. Stephanie graduated from Loyola's Counseling Program in 2011. We're glad to have you back!

 

The Georgia Chapter of the March of Dimes honored 16 outstanding local nurses at the 2014 Nurse of the Year Awards. Thomas Calabro of South Georgia Medical Center and a student in the MSN Health Care Systems Management program received top honors in the Critical Care category at this year’s event.  
 
Dr. Cynthia Collins, Associate Professor, recently published an article in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Healthcare titled Men as Caregivers of the Elderly: Support for the Contributions of Sons.  Dr. Collins’ study investigates the specific roles that sons play in caregiving of their elderly mothers.  
 
Our sincere congratulations to Dr. Collins for this contribution to the body of knowledge regarding caregivers of the elderly.
 

As Social Services Director, Kristen will provide and direct counseling and social services to the residents of St. Margaret's at Mercy, assisting residents and their families in adjusting from a home or hospital setting to St. Margaret's. Kristen's degree in Pastoral Studies has certainly prepared her to carry out St.

Warren Hebert, a graduate of our MSN program and now a DNP student has published the attached article titled "Interdisciplinary Team Competencies in Engaging Family Caregivers in The Journal of the Louisiana-Mississippi Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.   Warren put together a group of healthcare and end of life professionals who will spend 14 days in the Tibetan communities in exile in northern India. There we will observe aging, family caregiving- (tying in my capstone), end of life care, and Tibetan traditions around death and dying.

Dr. Linville and her colleagues conducted a mixed-methods study to enhance understanding of nurses’ clinical reasoning in recognizing delirium in the hospitalized older adult.  Congratulations to Dr. Linville and her colleagues on this very impressive research.

Amy is currently an 8th grade math teacher, supporting her school's mission "to ensure each student succeeds in life " Clearly this honor recognizes her as one of the "creative facilitators" that Carver Middle School encourages its teachers to be. Through her professional excellence, she encourages students to advance at their own pace, becoming global learners in a caring and supportive community. 

Dr. Katharine (Kate) Rocklein (Froede), a 2014 graduate of the DNP program, has accepted a tenure-track nursing faculty position with University of North Carolina (Pembroke).  At the same time, Kate has been accepted to and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy (Nursing Science) program at Rush University. Kate’s scholarly work for her DNP program provided the first nurse-driven academic study of practice-based evidence and curricular advancement for U.S. Army Special Operations Forces medics.

LIM Professor Dr. Daniella Zsupan-Jerome writes, "From June 21-24, Santa Clara University hosted the third meeting of TheoCom, a global gathering of theologians and practitioners discussing theology and digital culture.  This annual event is created by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications in partnership with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and is sponsored by Our Sunday Visitor.   It is a blessing to have had the opportunity to present papers here for the past three years.
