Counseling Professor Dr. LeAnne Steen graduated from the Association for Play Therapy Leadership Academy led by the Association for Play Therapy President and CEO Bill Burns. Fellow graduates from Louisiana included: Sheila Gold, Kathryn Hill, Adrianne Lolan, and Krystal Vaughan. Congratulations to Dr. Steen on her successful completion of all requirements of graduation.

Summary:
Living a wellness lifestyle is important for people of all ages. Presenters will offer a four-step wellness counseling intervention to implement wellness into the counseling process for Midlifers and older adults.

Dr. Steen presented the following three topics at LCA:
1. Working with the Caregivers in Play Therapy: From Engagement to Termination
The presenters will cover caregiver consultation from a developmental perspective from engagement through termination. Practical caregiver interventions for use when working with a variety of presenting issues will be covered.

The Department of Counseling participated in the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) fundraising walk on Saturday, October 8th. Together, twelve students and faculty members raised $1,488.72 to donate to NAMI New Orleans which provides mental health services and supportive services for affected families.

Lisa graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans with a master of science degree in nursing.
