Nursing Requirements

The requirements for online graduate program applicants can be found on our online program webpage linked above. To apply with the School of Nursing, applicants must meet the standard graduate requirements listed, as well as the following specialty requirements:

  • Unencumbered RN license

  • Minimum of 1800 hours of recent nursing practice (Applicants to the Master of Science in Nursing - FNP track must have recent direct patient care experience)


Statement of Purpose

All applicants must submit a statement of purpose.

MSN-FNP Requirements:

For applicants to the Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner track, the statement of purpose should address why they want to be a Family Nurse Practitioner.

DNP Requirements:

Applicants to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program must submit a two-page, typed, double-spaced essay addressing three areas:

  1. A description of the applicant’s goals for doctoral study
  2. Research translation area of interest for the scholarly project
  3. Career goals
