Dr. Debra Friedrich is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. Dr. Friedrich has been a Registered Nurse for 35 years and a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for the last 17 years. She obtained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2010 and focused her project and practicum immersion on the management of complex dyslipidemias. She obtained her board certification as a Clinical Lipid Specialist in 2010 and opened West Florida Lipidology within her Internal Medicine Practice in Bradenton, Florida. She has written a book chapter and published in multiple journals related to complex lipid management. Dr. Friedrich has been a guest speaker on Reach MD and has presented several abstracts with her lipidologist colleagues at the National Lipid Association (NLA) Scientific Sessions. Dr. Friedrich is also board certified in Advanced Diabetes Management. She is a Fellow of the National Lipid Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Friedrich has been faculty in graduate nursing education for 7 years. She is married and has 3 grown children and five adorable grandchildren. Her hobbies include; scuba diving, snow skiing, traveling abroad and spending time with her family.
