DNP Graduate Accepts Tenured Nursing Faculty Position with University of North Carolina (Pembroke)

Dr. Katharine (Kate) Rocklein (Froede), a 2014 graduate of the DNP program, has accepted a tenure-track nursing faculty position with University of North Carolina (Pembroke).  At the same time, Kate has been accepted to and is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy (Nursing Science) program at Rush University. Kate’s scholarly work for her DNP program provided the first nurse-driven academic study of practice-based evidence and curricular advancement for U.S. Army Special Operations Forces medics. She is an alumnus of the Jonas Foundation Veterans’ Healthcare Scholar program (2012-2014) and has continued her work as the academic editor of the Journal of Special Operations Medicine. Kate remains part of the initiatives for developing methods to integrate trauma & critical care nursing into front-line battlefield medical care. As an avid fan and former player, she was certified last year by the International Rugby Board as an approved Medical & Healthcare Professional.

Our sincere congratulations and best wishes go out to Dr. Rocklein.
