Financing Your Education

Recognizing the special financial needs of working adults, Loyola has attempted to maintain an affordable tuition rate. For the most current information regarding tuition, contact the Office of Student Finance or Pay Your Tuition Online Now.

Several financial aid options are available to students in the School of Nursing:

Federal Financial Aid

Financial aid is available to eligible students. In order to receive financial aid, a student must enroll on “at least a half-time basis” each semester in a degree-seeking program. In addition, a student must maintain “satisfactory academic progress” toward completing a degree and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Students must complete a new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year.

Based on demonstrated need, students may be eligible for either subsidized or unsubsidized student federal loans. Subsidized Federal Stafford Loans are need-based and available only to undergraduate students. These loans do not require students to pay interest on their loans while in school. The amount students can borrow a maximum of $3,500-$5,500 in subsidized loans. The interest rate is variable and repayment begins when the student leaves school.

Unsubsidized Federal Stafford Loans are not need-based. These loans require students to pay interest on their loans while in school. Undergraduate students can borrow up to $12,500 depending on their dependent status and years of education completed. Graduate students can borrow up to $20,500, as subsidized loans are the only federal loans offered. The Grad PLUS Loan Program is available for those who want to borrow the difference between the federal "Estimated Cost of Attendance" and all other aid received.

First-time borrowers must complete an “entrance interview” before funds can be disbursed into their accounts.

All loans must be repaid. For more information on repayment options, students should visit the Office of Student Finance.

Private Loans

Private loan programs are available to students with good credit. For more information on these programs, visit the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Employer-Sponsored Tuition Reimbursement

Some employers provide tuition payment plans to their employees. For employees participating in employer-sponsored tuition reimbursement programs, up to 90 percent of tuition may be deferred until the end of the semester in which it is incurred. Contact the School of Nursing at 866-789-8909 to request an agreement form or download the Employer Reimbursement-Nursing form directly.

Monthly Tuition Payment Plans

Other payment options are available for students who may not qualify for federal financial aid programs. Advance monthly tuition payment plans are available through Academic Management Services and Tuition Management Services.

Scholarships and Loan Forgiveness

Federal traineeships and loan forgiveness is available for Masters and Doctoral students committed to working in underserved communities and rural areas. Nurse Traineeships may be awarded to full-time students. We also have a list of scholarships available to nursing students, including the Legacy and Heritage Scholarships for Loyola University New Orleans alumni
