RN-BSN Admission Requirements

Requirements for RN-BSN Program

  1. A current unencumbered Registered Nurse license.
  2. Official transcripts from each college/university attended.
  3. A completed criminal background check.
  4. Requirements for admission to B.S.N. program include: Application for Undergraduate Admission; official Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended; and proof of a current Registered Nurse license.

 Transfer Credits
RN transcripts are individually assessed to permit maximum transfer of university credits where compatible with Loyola courses. Based on the transcript evaluation, each student is able to develop a progression plan that meets personal needs. Faculty advisors assist in developing an individualized plan for completion of the BSN degree. Since progression plans are individualized, each student is allowed to pursue the BSN degree at a pace that best suits the student.

BSN applicants may be fully admitted, admitted as transient students, or admitted provisionally.

Transient Student Status

A student will be fully admitted as a degree-seeking student only after official transcripts from each of the colleges and universities attended have been received by Loyola. Until this requirement is met, the student will be classified as a transient student.
A transient student can enroll in courses by presenting a current RN license at registration; however, a student may be classified as transient for only one semester.

Transient Students:
• are not eligible for federal financial aid.
• are not permitted to register for subsequent semesters until their status is changed to degree seeking (upon submission of all certified transcripts).

Provisional Admission
If an applicant appears to meet admission standards but is unable to provide one or more documents required for admission by the time admissions decisions are made, provisional admission may be granted. A provisionally admitted student has until the beginning of the second academic term to provided required materials. The provisionally admitted student will not be allowed to register beyond the first term if needed documentation has not been provided.

Licensure Requirements
Each student must sign a declaration stating that she/he has a current, unencumbered, unrestricted, and valid registered nurse license and there are no grounds for disciplinary proceedings. If at any point during the program a student’s R.N. license becomes encumbered or restricted, the student is obligated to immediately inform the director of the School of Nursing
