My name's Jack (he/him) and I'm currently pursuing an M.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loyola University. I approach counseling from a Person-Centered perspective, meaning I view the client as the expert regarding their own experience. I believe that people have every ability to identify current challenges and strategies that might benefit them going forward, and I view my role as that of a compassionate facilitator of your individual process.
As such, I focus more on providing potentially helpful questions than specific answers. I believe that everyone has an innate drive toward well-being and that building a therapeutic alliance based on mutual respect and trust is paramount. Additionally, I like to take a trauma informed approach to my work as a counselor. I work with adults individually and as couples, and in the future, I would like to gain more experience working with families. Before starting on my journey as a professional counselor, I worked as a musician and in the service industry, having received a B.S in Music Industry Studies from Loyola in 2016. Outside of my role as a counselor, I like to make music, cook, garden, and spend time with my three cats.
