Ruba (she/ they) hails from Minnesota where she received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology (B.A) from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. She received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S) from Loyola University in 2023. She is a provisionally licensed professional counselor (PLPC) who works from a dialectical behavioral approach in therapy and applies a relational cultural lens toward clientele and their communities.
Ruba is interested in working with survivors of trauma and individuals belonging to marginalized communities, both children and adults alike. She uses play therapy to explore the inner world and understanding of children. With adolescents and adults, she may employ traditional talk therapy, expressive arts, and/ or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Ruba’s clinical interests include interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, trauma (including racial and systemic), resilience, post-traumatic growth, and emotional regulation techniques. She encourages her clients to show up authentically and collaborate in their therapy treatment.
