Hello! My name is Annie (she/her), and I am a counseling intern at the Loyola Center for Counseling & Education (LCCE). I hold a B.S. in Psychology from Loyola University New Orleans, and I am in the process of earning my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Loyola as well. I have a background in dance and working with young children, which has made me interested in incorporating creative elements into the counseling space for all ages.
I view counseling as a process in which the client and I, as a team, identify present issues and develop goals that address the client’s desires for their therapeutic experience. Rooted in a person-centered approach to counseling, I believe creating a trusting and empathetic relationship in which the client feels safe is essential for genuine exploration and processing. I am a firm believer that clients are the experts in their own lives; my role is to support them in gaining a deeper understanding of themselves and what they want out of the therapeutic partnership. I look forward to creating caring connections with children, adolescents, and adults at the LCCE.
