The MSN-to DNP Executive Leadership program prepares you to transform health care within your community and practice. LEARNING OUTCOMES

As a nurse with a DNP Executive Leadership degree, five key competencies are expected of you.

1. Communication and Relationship Building
   Becoming an effective leader demands excellence in communication and in building relationships. Throughout your career as a DNP Executive Leader, you will be tasked to build a diverse community and trusting environment conducive to the exploration of ideas, allowing you to improve the health care industry. You will build credibility with decision-makers and serve as a community resource through media representation, community-based boards, task forces, and advisory groups. Internally, you will create a shared vision of health care with stakeholders, inspire desired behavior within your team, and promote patient-centered decisions. Conflict resolution will become second as you move your team and community towards optimal health and wellness.
2. Knowledge of the Health Care Environment
   DNP Executive Leaders can confidently ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and the professional standards of nursing while developing new patient-care delivery models and participating in the legislative process on health care issues. This understanding of policy and governance will guide you as you improve efficiencies, fiduciary responsibilities, patient-care management, patient safety, and strategic planning. It will allow you to manage through evidence-based practice and increase employee performance by establishing quality metrics within the law.
3. Leadership
   Leadership skills will improve through critiquing and translating research into practice. With this new diagnostic lens, you can serve as a change agent for your organization and become the adaptive leader who is ready to handle any situation at hand.
4. Professionalism
   DNP Executive Leaders become role models within their organization as they demonstrate personal accountability and the need for continued education. You will ensure ethical principles and corporate compliance standards are upheld, and provide career mentorship and performance coaching to your team to promote optimal health care.
5. Business skills
   DNP Executive Leaders learn strategic management skills to evaluate the achievement of operational objectives and goals, and correct course when necessary. This means you will provide leadership for the implementation and use of information systems and manage human capital and finances to ensure the financial health of your organization is maintained.

CURRICULUM

Discover the curriculum that empowers you to become an in-demand DNP Executive Leader. Courses ensure you have the technical, business, leadership and advanced nursing knowledge you need to excel. The MSN-DNP Executive Leadership program consists of at least 39 credit hours over 13 courses, with a minimum of 1,000, supervised, graduate-level practicum hours. Students may transfer up to 500 practicum hours from previous coursework.

Upon graduating from the program students also:

1. Qualify to sit for the Nurse Executive and Nurse Executive, Advanced certification exam through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
2. May complete an additional 9 credit hours in education courses, making them eligible to take the Certified Nurse Educator exam (CNE).
