BSN to DNP Family Nurse Practitioner Courses

BSN-to-DNP Curriculum

The BSN-to-DNP curriculum at Loyola University New Orleans empowers you to provide effective and cost-efficient care to individuals and populations as well as to work in various primary health care settings, all with Jesuit traditions in mind. Within the program, we will help you develop the tools you need to become a lifelong learner and leader within the field of nursing, all while fostering a spirit of independent inquiry and enhancing your critical thinking and communication skills.

To graduate from Loyola University’s BSN-to-DNP program, students are required to take 78 credit hours over 26 courses. Students can complete this program within three years if they are studying full-time. However, many choose to attend part-time due to the rigor of the coursework—and in this case, the program will take longer to complete. In order to sit for the ANCC or American Academy of Nurse Practitioner certification exam, the program must be completed within five years of enrolling.

A practicum element of the program is also required, consisting of 1,260 clock hours that is completed throughout your coursework in the DNP program. You will also take courses to support you as you complete your Scholarly Project, the culmination of your translational research, which you present in your final visit to campus.
