Synod on Young People

Listening to Young People Around the World:
Report on the Synod and Book Release

On Friday November 2, the Loyola Institute for Ministry sponsored an event about and in response to the 2018 Synod on Young People, Faith, and Vocational Discernment that took place in Rome from October 3-28 (USCCB and Vatican sources).  We heard from those who were in Rome for the Synod.  We also learned about responses to the Synod, about youth small Christian communities, and about a new book of essays published by Orbis Press, God's Quad: Small Faith Communities On Campus and Beyond.  Finally, we developed follow-up strategies for youth and young adult ministry in the Church today.

Speakers included Emilie Callan, Synod Auditor and correspondent for Salt+Light Media, Loyola CLC member Nicole Westerfield, Fr. Joe Healey, MM who was in Rome for the start of the Synod and is a contributor to God's Quad, and Loyola Institute for Ministry student Alloys Nyakundi, contributor to God's Quad.
