Heidi (she/her) earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Iowa (2015) and is in the process of completing her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Loyola. Prior to counseling, Heidi worked in the service industry and as a writing and art teacher. Her clinical work focuses on anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and relational issues. She offers individual, relationship (couples, family, etc.), group, and play therapy. Heidi’s work is largely centered on the practice of self-compassion. She views the world through a systems lens and integrates different techniques such as role-playing, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, body awareness, and expressive arts to help clients gain insight and unburden. She aims to help clients identify unhelpful cycles and patterns of behavior and transform these into helpful and productive ways of being in the world. Heidi’s goal is to help clients identify and accept different “parts” of their personalities that may be getting in the way of them meeting their highest, authentic Selves. She believes that everyone has the capacity for growth and change and her goal is to support clients on their journey toward open-hearted connections with themselves and others.
